Importance of SAT and ACT Exam

Because of the pandemic and the fact that the SAT and ACT exams put more pressure on students because they can’t really express themselves, most colleges, including ivy league colleges and the most popular colleges, have made this exam test optional, while some colleges still require it. As international students, we must write this test to demonstrate that we can compete with/at the same pace as US education if given the opportunity. The importance is reduced (I say test-optional, not test-necessary, so if you are willing to take the test, a score of more than 1330 is ideal). 1330 is the essential best mark, and anything higher than that is above the 99 percentile). If not, it’s fine because having the highest GPA and extra circulars will make up for it.

SAT Fees Waivers

FEES waivers are essential because every international student requires them. Each exam costs at least 7000 rupees, which we cannot afford as upper middle-class and middle-class students. Because the United States values its students, it provides opportunities for students who cannot afford to participate in all aspects of the application process, including the SAT, AP, and applications for college scholarships.Although these waivers are available to all, it is imperative to prove that you can’t afford them (income should be less than $ 65,000, that is 2,30,000 rupees in Indian currency ) like income tax annual proof or other things. The Collegeboard is only present in the USA, so they can’t directly provide you waiver, but they are collaborating with the study4buddy website to give the fee waiver, so please check their site. If you have any doubts, write a mail to the collegeboard they will clear as they did to me. The reply will be expected within 4 days on working days.

SAT and ACT Eligibility

In the United States, students in their first and second years of high school are given the opportunity to take the PSAT, which is a practise test similar to the SAT. Following the PSAT, students are allowed to take the SAT throughout their high school before college admission (but because it was made optional, it is easy to assume it doesn’t affect the application much, but it does affect at least 0.001% as far as I know). It is usually tested 5 to 6 times a year, and the dates will be announced on the official website (if you didn’t know, collegeboard conducts the SAT/AP and PSAT, which is similar to CBSE only). Students who score 1450 or higher on the PSAT exam are recognised for having achieved the highest grades in their first and second years of high school.
