What do I write about? Common App: 7 options, including the topic of your choice (250-650 words) Coalition on Scoir App: 5 options, including the topic of your choice (500-550 words recommended) QuestBridge App: 1biographical essay (800-word limit) and a second essay with 3 options (500word limit)

Why Essays? ESSAYS can make your application come alive. It’s where we should meet YOU, beyond grades and activities. The essay adds context, details, or personality, and puts emphasis on a student’s priorities, experiences, or values The essay is ONE part of your application. Students with average essays are admitted; students with outstanding essays are denied. Each part of your application is important, but don’t get hung up on perfection or giving us what “we” want. Be you, spend some time reflecting, learn something, and … move on.
